West Australian dhufish has no minimum legal size: the DPIRD Recreational fishing guide (June 2026 Edition 2) lists its minimum legal size as N/A in the demersal scalefish bag-and-size table, after the 1 June 2026 statewide reforms under which "size limits for some demersal species have changed or been removed" — older references citing a dhufish minimum size predate this. Take is capped by the demersal scalefish daily bags: an individual cap of 2 in the West Coast bioregion (matching its 2-fish mixed demersal bag) and 1 per day everywhere else — Abrolhos Islands and other bioregions, within the 4-fish mixed demersal bag outside the West Coast (reduced from 5 on 1 June 2026). A slow-growing WA endemic under heavy management; the West Coast boat closure runs until spring 2027. Carry a release weight for barotrauma.
