Fishare’s maps, forecasts and habitat scores are built on data published by ocean and weather services, space agencies, research programmes, mapping providers and marine-park agencies. This page lists every source the app draws on (59 credits), the licence each is published under, and the credit that licence asks for.
It is the same list as the Data sources & credits sheet behind the ⓘ DATA button on the app’s map — both are generated from one file, so they cannot disagree.
Generated 2026-11-01
Fishare fetches these datasets on its own servers and turns them into what the app shows: map tiles and images, sea-temperature edges, habitat heat, bite scores, wind and sea-state readings, tide predictions and forecasts. Those derived products are Fishare’s work, not the providers’, and a credit on this page does not mean a provider endorses Fishare.
We don’t redistribute the providers’ original data files. To use the data itself, get it from the provider through the links on this page, under the provider’s own licence.
Not for navigation. Depths, chart marks, protected-area boundaries and forecasts on Fishare are derived and simplified, and can be out of date. Use official charts, and check the current rules with the relevant agency before you fish.

Data were sourced from Australia’s Integrated Marine Observing System (IMOS) – IMOS is enabled by the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS). It is operated by a consortium of institutions as an unincorporated joint venture, with the University of Tasmania as Lead Agent.
VIIRS ocean-colour passes — the CHL PASSES strip — and, until 8 October 2026 when Australia and New Zealand moved to NOAA's stream, the satellite sea-temperature passes (VIIRS, AVHRR) still in the 30-day pass history.
NOAA STAR Advanced Clear-Sky Processor for Ocean (ACSPO) — VIIRS and AVHRR passes, GOES-19 / GOES-18 ABI and Himawari-9 AHI hourly sea-surface temperature, distributed by NASA PO.DAAC.
The PASSES strip in every region (Australia and New Zealand since 8 October 2026), the hourly LIVE preview and HOURLY frames everywhere but the UK (Meteosat covers it — the EUMETSAT OSI SAF credit), and habitat heat on the freshest pass.
NOAA CoastWatch — ERDDAP distribution of the MUR analysis, the VIIRS gap-filled (DINEOF) chlorophyll used when the Copernicus field is unavailable, and the GOES-18 ACSPO hourly sea-surface temperature used while its PO.DAAC stream is silent.
NOAA GOES-R Series ABI L2+ Sea Surface (Skin) Temperature (ABI-L2-SSTF) from GOES-18, NOAA/NESDIS, via the NOAA Open Data Dissemination Program.
The hourly LIVE preview and HOURLY frames over the US West Coast, Hawaii and Baja while NOAA’s GOES-18 ACSPO stream is silent at PO.DAAC. Fishare keeps only good-quality (DQF 0) pixels, places each on its own 0.02° grid by nearest ABI pixel and folds the hours into a 24-hour freshest-pixel mosaic: modified data, not original NOAA data.
We acknowledge the use of imagery provided by services from NASA's Global Imagery Browse Services (GIBS), part of NASA's Earth Science Data and Information System (ESDIS).

The hourly LIVE preview and the HOURLY frames over UK & Ireland water (Meteosat-10 SEVIRI). Fishare keeps only quality levels 4 and 5, removes the per-pixel SSES bias, folds the hours into a 24-hour freshest-pixel mosaic and draws it on its own colour ramp; those changes are ours, not EUMETSAT’s. The product’s grid ends at 60°N, so the water north of it has no hourly data.
Gridded ocean products: forecast sea temperature, temperature at depth, salinity, currents, sea-surface height, eddies and the daily chlorophyll field. Their licence asks that anything built on them carries the statement and the DOIs below.

GO TO suggests the nearest boat ramps to a mark from these registries and shows the Bureau of Meteorology's coastal hazard warning for its zone. Fishare selects, de-duplicates and reformats the ramp rows; details may since have changed.
