In New York, Bluefish has no minimum legal size and the daily bag limit is 5 per person/day (7 on for-hire party/charter vessels). There is no closed season in NY.

No size limit and no closed season statewide; controlled by bag limit only. The 2026 regs set 5 (private) / 7 (for-hire), an increase from the prior 3 / 5. STATE marine waters. Harvest is controlled by the daily possession limit only; the for-hire (party/charter) limit is higher than the private-angler limit. Bluefish is managed coastwide under the ASMFC plan.
