FISHING CAPE COD

Cape Cod is one of the great striped-bass fisheries on the East Coast — the Cape Cod Canal funnels migrating bass through a fast tidal chute that draws shore anglers from across the Northeast on the right tide, and the rips off Monomoy and the backside beaches hold fish all summer. Fluke and black sea bass cover the sandy bottom in Nantucket and Vineyard Sounds, and false albacore and bonito blitz the harbor mouths and the Canal in early fall. The variety from the surf, the flats and the boat is what makes a Cape summer.
