Gulf / Alabama state waters out to 3 nm. a.k.a. mangrove snapper, Lutjanus griseus. STATE waters (within 3 nm): 12" min TL, 10 per person specific to gray (mangrove) snapper. NOTE federal/offshore differs — in federal Gulf waters gray snapper is counted within the 10-fish snapper-aggregate bag (all snapper species combined, excluding those with their own bag), so when other snappers are kept the offshore practical limit on gray snapper is lower.
These limits are pulled from the ADCNR Marine Resources saltwater recreational size and creel limits. Last verified June 2026.
